Why do we have to “grow up” and stop appreciating things that make us happy? There’s nothing wrong with liking “kids” things, no matter how old you are.

Osso Buco.  Tierra Alta Clubhouse in Valencia, Negros Oriental.  Who could resist the meat (and marrow) falling off the bone drenched in tomato sauce?  I always call this the bulalo, sosyal-style!  Mashed potato serving was huge and just right.  Buttered veggies added extra crunch to this otherwise “soft” meal.  One of the best meals I’ve had during my Dumaguete trip!

Razon’s Arrozcaldo. The Filipino’s take on rice porridge topped with a  few slices of hard-boiled egg, chicken, toasted garlic and scallions.

Razon’s Halo-Halo.  The best halo-halo in the world is also the simplest.  I still can’t quite pinpoint why I love this pared down version of the halo-halo so much.  Maybe it’s the finely-shaved ice.  Or the creamy macapuno.  Or the milk.  Or the luscious leche flan.  Or the sweet macapuno.  Or the yummy bananas. Whatever it is, halo-halo is heaven.

Rue Nachos.  Rue Bourbon.  A hefty serving of tortilla chips topped with cheese, jalapenos and spiced beef.  A worthy rival of its Chili’s counterpart in terms of serving size.  Loving the multi-colored tortilla chips but admittedly, I am not a fan of the red-orangey sauce.  There’s enough to share with 3-4 persons.

Caramel Flavored Beer.  Big Ass Size. Rue Bourbon, Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.  It’s your typical San Miguel beer mixed with a touch of caramel.  Highly recommended for ladies like me who cannot appreciate the bitter aftertaste of beer.
A glass costs PHP120.00 while the Big Ass one (that’s equivalent to three glasses) costs PHP260.00.
Thanks to my nephew Chrys for introducing the “fancy” version of this well-loved brew.

Taho.  Vikings. The Pinoy favorite gets a touch of class, thanks to the raindrop-shaped bowl.

Vegetarian Dolmeh Felfel.  Persia Grill.  Iran’s version of stuffed bell peppers paired with some flatbread and yogurt. It’s like a savory burrito encased in a green bell pepper.  The flatbread is for polishing the sauce off the plate and the yogurt is for calming the taste buds.  Surprisingly a very filling and healthy dish!  Will definitely come back when I want to reminisce about my Dubai life.

Fish Tausi Bowl. Chowking.  No-meat Friday fix. Slices of breaded fish fillet with fried Chinese tofu all tossed in savory tausi sauce with a hint of spiciness.
